below are pictures of some of the most meaningful people in my life. i love them all in very different ways and my life would be emptier without them.
i learned recently how important is to show your friends how much you love each other. i lost two beautiful people this year and i not only mourn for their untimely deaths, but i also mourn for the loss of two beautiful and blossoming friendships.
in loving memory, richard huynh (1970-1997) and louis cyon (1963-1997). my sadness and anger over your deaths last year feel like it won't ever leave.
chris has been one of my closest friends for almost 12 years. we met as undergraduates at uc irvine fall of 1985. we've been there for each other through personal struggles, family conflicts, failed relationships. we've also shared the joys of making it through college, exploring new paths in life, and dreaming together.
chris is on the left, and live in southern california. i am happy for him that he is on his way to becoming a very successful registered nurse.
here are pictures of the love of my life, derek. we've known each other for five years, lived together for 3 beautiful ones. derek is back home on guam gaining valuable work experience, paying off debts, helping his family, and figuring out where to go in life. i hope derek comes home soon because i miss him so much. we have so much yet to do and see together!
these pictures were taken in may of 1997, when he came to see his sister graduate from college. it was the first time in two years we had seen each other. i was also lucky he was here when our friends were killed. how can you not love somebody after that?

 the flight from guam must feel interminable. derek has to sleep a few days to get over the jetlag. taking catnaps is one of our favorite things we love to do and do best. |

daniel is one of the sweetest and nicest friends anyone can ever have. danny is a student at sfsu and is into the outdoors and has many intellectual interests. he's a pretty good cook, too :)

i met david fall semester 1990 at fresno state university, and for the next two years, he was my first serious boyfriend and relationship. we had a lot of fun as well as some low points, as first loves and relationships often do. i will always be grateful to david for showing me the way out of the closet and facing the struggle of being a brown gay man in a white man's world. david is also one of the most talented and gifted people i've ever known. check out his work.
our lives are very different today, with different people, friends, jobs, loves, and purposes in life. david and i are still great friends and i appreciate his sensitive honesty and his ability to laugh at himself and let people be themselves. i only wish him the best in whatever he does and wherever he goes.
